SOPFEU

Background

Each year, SOFPEU requires the services of many experienced pilots to combat forest fires. Although the pilots are experienced, they must be trained in SOPFEU's operational rules and procedures. The training is mandatory; it takes place on an annual basis and it is critical to operational safety. The training is given quickly and is often interrupted, which results in decreased effectiveness and significant costs. It is thus very complex and expensive to provide just-in-time training for all pilots, every year.

Customized solution

Ellicom developed a dynamic, interesting and stimulating e-learning solution for the pilots. The training module presented real-life situations and events encountered by pilots when responding to forest fires. Learners play the role of a helicopter pilot who must fight fires while respecting procedures. A Learning Management System (LMS) enabled administrators to manage enrolment and results and to produce statistical reports.
